Books about sports are a dime a dozen, but a few writers seem to capture something about a game that appeals to our imagination. Roger Kahn’s The Boys of Summer is beloved as are books by Joe Garagiola, most of which, sadly, are out of print. John Feinstein, NPR Morning Edition commentator and author, has written several books about various sports, and Bernard Malamud’s The Natural is approaching literary classic status.
