Rainbow stickers, flags, windsocks, and clothing are a symbol of solidarity in the gay community. If the person who’s just come out has a strong sense of gay pride, this kind of merchandise is appropriate. But even if your recipient is proud to be gay, he or she may not wish to express it through rainbows. Use your judgment.
