While you could easily find books on the works of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Edward Weston, Sebastio Salgado, Robert Frank, Tina Modotti (you get the picture) it might be better to find a general book of photography history or technique. Or, give a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble and let the photo-buff identify a photographer of his or her own taste.
