Sudoku Cube
What it is: A clever 3-d version of the popular Japanaese puzzle game.
Why we love it: It's not often you see a logic puzzle craze. Shoe crazes, talking doll crazes, hairstyle crazes, these are all common enough, they come along once a year or so. A puzzle craze though, a genuine strain-your-brain poser craze, well, that's a horse of a different color. We (in case you haven't noticed) are a bit geeky here at Surprise.com, so even though we've only played Sudoku once or twice, we're big fans of the simple fact that, well, there's a logic puzzle craze going on; it sure beats Pet Rocks (Sudoku, in case you've been in a cave for the last few months, is a Japanese puzzle game wherein you try to align the numbers 1-9 in a series of little squares until they all line up, at which point, we assume, you achieve some form of enlightenment). If you know a Sudoku wiz, and we're betting you do, then they're sure to enjoy the blending of this latest puzzle craze with an old classic. Hey, you got Sudoku in my Rubix cube! You got Rubix cube in my Sudoku! The two great tastes that taste great together, indeed. It works just like a Rubix cube, but instead of aligning all the same color on a side, you have to align the numbers 1 through 9. It's positively guaranteed to keep a Sudoku junkie busy for a good while, hopefully until the next puzzle craze comes out.
Who we'd give it to: Puzzle Solvers, Crosswords Addicts (get them to branch out), Math Inclined Kids.
Where to get it: From Toys.Brando.com for a crazed $10.90
