What it is:
A beautiful flower garden all wrapped up in a box, just waiting to be planted.
Why we love it:
Every year, around this time, we contemplate the same question. How best can we give someone the gift of spring? It's no easy task, as spring is bursting forth all over the place, the very nature of it making it hard to contain in anything so pedestrian as a gift box. Spring is a time of joyful madness, and April, in the words of Edna St. Vincent Millay, "...comes like an idiot, babbling and strewing flowers." With this, we can empathize. After the long, grey dullness of winter we're pretty much ready to start babbling and strewing flowers ourselves. The flower gardens are a charming way to begin the flower strewing process. Each sweet little box is filled with three "seed ribbons", which, contain a combination of flower seeds that will bloom into a miniature garden when planted. Each kit comes with easy-to-follow instructions and a charming little tag which reads, "Happiness held is a seed. Happiness shared is the flower." It's a wonderful way to herald the end of winter and welcome the coming spring.
