What it is:
A pair of tiny little egg-shaped creatures that contain a living surprise.
Why we love it:
There is, we admit, an odd sort of appeal about Chia pets. Oh come on, it's true! It's cheery to watch a live thing grow, and they are kind of cute. Still, the level of cliché involved is so great that we can't advise anyone to give a ch-ch-ch-chia pet as a gift. But the guiding principle is still good, and that's why we love these Nyokki pets. Nyokki means "grow" in Japanese, and that's precisely what they'll do. Twice as cute as chia pets, the happy little egg shaped creatures will grow bright green "hair" out of the tops of their little heads. In less than two weeks, you can style their hair, or cut it and watch it grow again. They're sold in sets of two, and you can choose from Monkey, Chickee, Froggie, Panda, and Piglet. They'll brighten up a workspace, provide adorable cheer on a kitchen counter, or bring some fun to a kid's bedroom. It's hard to imagine any space that wouldn't be improved by a little ceramic egg with grass growing out of its head.
