Why we love it:
Being attuned to the moon's phases really does add a unique texture to life. In times past, knowing its cycles was just part of life. On full moon nights, the road was lit enough to travel; on new moon nights, humans likely stayed closer to home. At full moon and new moon, when tides are more extreme, those who lived by the water arranged their lives accordingly. This special clock reminds us that no matter how much technology takes over our lives, we are still inextricably connected to the cosmos and the natural world. The challenge is to notice it while we go about our busy lives.
