Lemonade Toolbox
What it is: A shiny red toolbox filled with fabulous treats and handy tools for a new home.
Why we love it: There are few landmark events in life quite as traumatic as moving. Oh, sure, it's exciting to be in a new space, and frequently moving is the result of a better job, or an improvement in lifestyle that's far from unpleasant, but the moving itself, well, that can be a grade A nightmare. First there's packing, then the dragging, swearing, grunting process of carrying your suddenly far too heavy furniture onto the truck and then, at the other end of the long drive, you do it all over again, only this time in reverse. Then, at the end of your toils, some well meaning friend gives you a set of candle holders as a housewarming present. Now, don't get us wrong, candle holders are a really nice gift. We've given them ourselves, we've even given them as housewarming gifts, but we tend to give them to those impressively organized people who don't need any help getting settled into their new place, people who will simply appreciate a new decorative object for their undoubtedly spotless home. There are people like that out there, we secretly hate those people, but we know they exist. For the rest of the world, however, you may find that something functional is a slightly better choice for a housewarming gift, or something to relieve the exhaustion of moving. The Lemonade Toolbox is a little of both, a shiny red toolbox is the packaging for this unique gift set, filled with equal parts function (hammer, tape measure, extension cord, screwdriver, flashlight and the latest issue of Dwell magazine) and fancy (Two bottle of French lemonade, chocolate, cookies, crackers and cheese), to make the moving experience just a touch less painful for those of us who are less than perfectly organized. It's a gift basket idea we can really get behind, providing just the right mix of luxury and usefulness, all packed up in a "basket" that will be as useful as the gift itself. A particularly perfect choice for people embarking on their first post-college apartment, the useful stuff will start them off right in their new place, and the munchies will help sooth the pain of moving.
Who we'd give it to: New Homeowners and small apartment dwellers.
Where to get it: From Elsewares for a practical $85.00
