I-Gami Construction Kits

What it is: 3-D plastic construction toys based on the principles of Origami.

Why we love it: Dr. Toy named I-Gami one of the 100 Best Children's Products of 2006 and we can see why. Inspired by traditional Japanese origami, the I-Gami kits have colorful plastic pieces that kids can bend, fold and snap together. They can follow instructions for building the models shown in each kit or they can get even more creative and build any 3-D object they can imagine. The I-Gami website has a gallery of inspirational ideas. Completed creations stay together nicely until kids decide to take them apart and build something else.

Who we'd give it to: These award-winning sets would make great gifts for late elementary school kids and tweens who love to build things.
