Freudian Slippers
What it is: A pair of fluffy, fuzzy slippers, bearing Dr. Sigmund Freud's likeness.
Why we love it: Everybody wants slippers that make their feet physically comfortable, but how about slippers that make their feet psychologically comfortable? It's all well and good for slippers to be warm and fuzzy, but we demand more, we demand slippers that make us feel better about our relationship with our mother, and cure us of our phobias and fixations. We demand them, and we wouldn't think of giving our friends anything less. If you know someone who could use a little mental fine-tuning, perhaps it will help to provide them with a pair of slippers that cares, a pair of slippers that understands their pain, a pair of Freudian Slippers. Certainly Dr. Freud would have appreciated the symbolism of being a supportive and nurturing influence for, err, feet. No doubt he would have loved these warm and fluffy slippers, we bet he'd have even worn a pair (though we're not sure what that says about him). Freudian slippers are an eager listener, a supportive companion, and much more. If your recipient thinks that this gift makes some kind of statement about their mental health, just remind them; sometimes slippers, are just slippers.
Who we'd give it to: The stressed, depressed and distressed, psychiatrists and psychologists, your mother- err, I mean, your friends.
Where to get it: From Uncommon Goods for a analytical $24.00
