Create Your Own Motivational Poster
What it is: A fun, web-based toy that allow you to create your own motivational poster.
Why we love it: It's possible that in past, we've poked a little bit of fun at motivational posters. We're not sure that a pretty picture and a stock aphorism is really the best way to create an atmosphere of positive thought, despite the impression given by many a corporate break room. Inspiration should be more personal than a picture of some guy water-skiing, or otherwise triumphing over nature. Fortunately, Flagrant Disregard has provided a solution. By this we mean the website, not actual flagrant disregard, actual flagrant disregard almost never provides a solution for anything. What the website provides is a whole passel of "Flickr toys", for creating fun novelty images out of photos from your Flickr account, or from photos you upload from your computer. One of these toys allows you to create your own motivational poster, with your picture and your pithy catchphrase. The motivational posters, along with a few of the other toys, can actually be printed up in full poster size. They make great gifts, one of those rare items that's just as good sincerely given as it is when meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Some of the toys can only be created online, but they can still be a fun little surprise in someone's inbox.
Who we'd give it to: Proud Parents will love the magazine cover with their kid's face, The Overworked could use some genuine motivation, and The Subversive will love the faux motivation.
Where to get it: From Flagrant Disregard, free for the online versions, and prints starting at $10.00
