What it is:
A miniature Maglite incased in a clear plastic body with posable arms and legs to stand your illuminating friend up in any position.
Why we love it:
The first thing you notice about the Flashlite Friend is how darn cute it is. With a clear plastic body that holds a mini-maglite and posable arms and legs, it seems more like a cute little sci-fi creature than a handy tool. Even the name, Flashlite Friend, imbues it with a certain character and personality. While we do like how cute it is, our real fascination is for how useful it is. Those black arms and legs that give it so much character also allow it to be easily propped at any angle, shining a steady beam of light and leaving hands free to work. Anyone who has tried to juggle tools and a flashlight while work in some small, dark corner can tell you just how useful that is. Unlike handier and more gadgetty folks, we don't find ourselves in that situation often, so we're just thinking about buying three or four to act out scenes from our favorite plays ("Alas, poor Maglite, I knew him, Horatio."). The Flashlite Friend is equally suited to both usefulness and entertainment, which makes him a better friend than most.
Who we'd give it to:
Campers, auto mechanics, model builders, the friendless.
