Everyday Superheroes
What it is: Traditional superhero action figures, only this time they're just like you!
Why we love it: As children, many of us played with dolls or action figures that represented unattainable ideals. Wasp-waisted leggy blonde dolls with an improbable number of accessories, and burly super-heroes with legendary powers. It's not that they weren't fun, but we have to admit that we were a little disappointed when, try as we might, we could not develop x-ray vision or invisibility. It was a crushing blow, and we resolved to aim for more attainable goals. We resigned ourselves to the fact that we would never be superheroes, and that children would never fight over our tiny, plastic doppelgangers.
Apparently, we were wrong. For all of those unsung superheroes of the workaday world, we bring you Everyday Superheroes. They come in three different varieties, Geekman, Moneyman and Bossman, each with his own selection of accessories and thrilling powers. The Bossman incentivizes, blamestorms and captures mind share with ease. The Moneyman focuses on ROI, approves expenses and, when threatened, brings down the awesome power of the audit. The Geekman can viciously change your password at will, install bizarre software on your computer and fix your cell phone. Truly they are an awe-inspiring triumvirate of corporate power, and none can stand in their way. Give someone a reason to celebrate their own everyday superpowers, and conduct pitched desktop battles over who gets the good cube.
Who we'd give it to: Bossmen, Geekmen, and Moneymen.
Where to get it: From Thinkgeek for an everyday $15.99
