What it is:
A nifty little camera that comes with colored filters to change the hue of your shots.
Why we love it:
There are, of course, many fancy software packages which will allow the amateur photographer to do stunning things to their photographs with just the click of a button, and another button, and another button, and some arcane symbols on the mouse, and a manual, and maybe a class or two. Ok, so it's possible that it's not as spectacularly easy as you may have been led to believe by digital camera salesman. Yes, the digital revolution is definitely here, and we're on board, we are, but we're also kind of fond of the retro school. While the Colorsplash Camera may not do everything that your fancy digital can do, it's still pretty cool. The nine colored filters change the lighting quality of each picture, allowing you to snap shots in brilliant hues, and the long exposure option turns the background into a blur of color behind the sharp foreground. Pretty neat for not even using a computer, eh? There's something satisfying about using a good old-fashioned picture with a good old-fashioned camera or your good old-fashioned (and inexplicably purple) family.
