What it is:
A recipe kit that beautifully displays the pre-measured hard to find spices, sauces and dried items as well as step-by-step instructions for making Katsudon (Pork Cutlet and Egg Rice Bowl).
Why we love it:
Modern yet traditional, Katsudon, like Tokyo itself, is a perfect balance of the two. This dish was created in the mid 20th century to appeal to the soy based 'wafu' or Japanese style of food in a quick to fix and easy to eat format. The crispy pork cutlets are cooked with a savory broth and eggs then placed piping hot on a bowl of rice. Kit includes: white sticky rice, panko, mirin, soy sauce, dashi, flour, miso soup with wakame, preparation instructions, shopping list, table setting suggestions and Tea & Triva. Serves 4 adults.
