Why we love it:
The trouble with gardening is that it requires a garden, something that plenty of us city dwellers don't have. The other problem with gardening is that it requires some skills, some equipment, a lot of time... alright, there are a lot of problems with gardening, at least for someone like us. For those of us who live in a world far, far away from Martha Stewart, having flowers around usually means buying a bouquet from the florist, and then they don't last very long. Sure, we'd love to impress everyone with our green thumb, the trouble is, we don't have one. If you're looking for a gift to make the domestically challenged feel like a home improvement mastermind, these cunning little bloom-in-a-bag kits may be just the thing. There's absolutely nothing to it, open the bag, follow the instructions, stick them in a windowsill and watch them grow. There are festive blooms (like the mini tulip pictured here), fresh herbs, and even tiny tomato plants that can be grown with incredible ease. It may not be the final destination on the road to domesticity, but it is a good first step.
