It seems like a cool, illustrated book of poetry about an African-American boy in Harlem getting to know his mother’s boyfriend. But kids ages 4-8 will learn more when Blue, the mother’s boyfriend, helps the youth get his feet on the ground. With advice on how to handle anger, the dignity of work, and the physical pleasure of athletic sports over and above competition, this book is a positive influence.
